As our electrical and solar team continues to grow, we are looking for a skilled Commercial Journeyman Electrician who can support commercial electrical installations, service work, troubleshooting, solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, service upgrades, and related electrical scopes.
This position is ideal for someone with strong commercial electrical experience, the ability to work independently, and the professionalism to coordinate with project managers, foremen, inspectors, utility representatives, customers, and other trades in the field.
We are seeking a dependable, knowledgeable electrician who can perform and support commercial electrical work with a high standard of safety, code compliance, and workmanship. The right candidate should be comfortable reading plans and single-line diagrams, working on commercial electrical systems, troubleshooting issues in the field, and helping keep projects moving efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform commercial electrical installations, service work, and troubleshooting
- Install and wire electrical panels, switchgear, disconnects, transformers, conduit, feeders, branch circuits, breakers, and electrical equipment
- Support solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, and service upgrade projects
- Read and interpret electrical plans, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and project documents
- Install EMT, rigid conduit, flex, wire, terminations, and related electrical components
- Work safely around common commercial electrical systems, including 120/240V, 208Y/120V, 480Y/277V, and similar systems
- Coordinate with project managers, foremen, inspectors, utility representatives, customers, and other field personnel
- Ensure work is completed according to NEC, CEC, OSHA, and local AHJ requirements
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and help identify practical field solutions
- Maintain clean, professional, and organized job sites
- Lead or assist other crew members when needed
Qualifications
- Commercial electrical experience required
- California General Electrician Certification preferred
- Ability to read electrical plans and single-line diagrams
- Strong understanding of electrical code and safe work practices
- Experience with conduit bending, wire pulling, equipment installation, and terminations
- Comfortable working on commercial electrical systems up to 480V
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
- Strong communication skills and professional attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working on commercial job sites with customers, inspectors, utility representatives, and other trades present
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check upon a conditional job offer in accordance with local law
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is a strong plus:
- Commercial solar PV systems
- Battery energy storage systems
- Tesla Powerwall or Tesla commercial products
- Enphase, SolarEdge, Fronius, SMA, Sol-Ark, Growatt, or similar inverter systems
- Main electrical panel upgrades
- EV charger installations
- Commercial troubleshooting and service calls
- Public works or prevailing wage projects
- Utility shutdowns, commercial service work, or equipment upgrades
Compensation
- Full-time, W-2 Employment
- Pay: $40.00-$58.00 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, leadership ability, and relevant commercial electrical experience.
- Prevailing wage project rates may vary by county and project, often creating significantly higher earning opportunities, up to $100.00 per hour.
