Option One Solar is a family-operated solar and electrical contractor with more than five decades of electrical experience and a growing commercial solar division. We design and build commercial solar projects across Southern California, including rooftop, carport, ground-mount, and public works projects. As we expand, we are looking for a construction-minded Project Coordinator who can keep large projects organized, documented, and moving forward.
We are hiring a remote Commercial Solar Project Coordinator to support our commercial division. This role is ideal for someone with construction project management experience, especially in public works, government, solar, electrical, or large commercial projects. You will help manage project documentation, schedules, communication, safety-related coordination, and administrative workflows for projects up to approximately $5 million. The right person is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate commercial solar project workflows from pre-construction through completion
- Coordinate project documents, schedules, submittals, change orders, and communication
- Support public works and government project administration requirements
- Maintain organized project folders and documentation using Google Suite
- Coordinate with internal teams, field leadership, vendors, subcontractors, and clients
- Track project progress, deadlines, action items, and outstanding documentation
- Help improve systems and processes as the commercial division grows
- Communicate clearly and consistently with leadership and project stakeholders
Qualifications
- Construction project coordination or project management experience required
- Experience with commercial, public works, government, solar, electrical, or large-scale construction projects is strongly preferred
- Experience managing projects up to approximately $5 million is a plus
- PMP certification preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of project documentation, change orders, schedules, and construction administration
- Proficient with Google Suite and comfortable learning new systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote role
Compensation
- Employment Type: Independent Contractor. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and equipment unless otherwise agreed.
- Pay: $8-$12 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications

- Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Some overlap with Southern California business hours is required.
